Lake Maggiore or Lago Verbano is a pre-alpine lake of glacial origin and is the second largest lake in Italy. It has a surface area of 212 km² of which approximately 80% is situated on Italian soil and the remaining 20% on Swiss soil. It has a maximum depth of about 370 m. It is my favourite lake and the one on which I fish most assiduously. Fishing here is difficult but rewards you with record-breaking fish (both pike and zander) regardless of whether you are casting, jigging or trolling. Target fish: pike, zander, perch, trout and black bass.
